Position Summary

The Early Childhood Teaching Assistant will assist the lead teacher in supporting and nurturing the development of each child’s self-esteem, trust, and growing autonomy. Glenelg Country School is a coeducational independent school located in Howard County, Maryland, with approximately eight hundred students from 2-year-olds through twelfth grade. This position is an excellent opportunity for new educators interested in strengthening their professional skill set and passionate about teaching students in a Primary School setting.

Overview of Essential Functions

• Assist the lead teacher in supporting and nurturing the development of each child’s self-esteem, trust, and growing autonomy.
• Help assess children’s individual needs, temperament styles, and abilities.
• Support the classroom team in planning and implementing lesson plans and developmentally appropriate experiences.
• Attend staff meetings, parent meetings, in-service training, and other meetings as directed.

Education and Experience

• Completion of 90-hour preschool and 45-hour infant/toddler classes.
• First aid and CPR certification.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

Compensation Range
