Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated K-2 Teacher to provide individualized instruction and support to neurodivergent students in kindergarten through second grade. This role will focus on meeting the unique needs of students who require additional assistance in areas such as literacy, numeracy, social-emotional skills, and overall academic development. The ideal candidate will collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, specialists, and parents to ensure all students have the support they need to succeed academically and socially.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to neurodivergent students in K-2 to support their social and academic growth and development.
  • Assist students with varying learning abilities, including students with special needs, in core subjects such as reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Develop interventions tailored to meet the specific needs of students.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed to ensure success.
  • Work closely with parents, guardians, and other educators to communicate student progress and offer strategies for supporting learning at home.
  • Support students in developing social-emotional skills and positive behavior.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Assist with the implementation of differentiated instruction and support in various classroom settings.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching strategies and knowledge.
Characteristics & Qualities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education
  • Experience working with young children, particularly in grades K-2, or in an inclusive educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of developmental milestones and strategies for supporting diverse learners.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
  • Patience, creativity, and a passion for supporting the academic and personal growth of young learners.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with various instructional strategies and educational technologies.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
  • Knowledge of classroom management techniques to support positive behavior.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom culture.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Regularly works in standard office or classroom conditions and climate, occasionally works outdoors in varying weather conditions and climate
  • Regularly uses close and distance vision
  • Works at a computer screen for extended periods of time
  • Ability to observe students from various distances comfortably
  • Works at a desk for extended periods of time, frequently moves around campus
  • Ability to occasionally move items 30 lbs. across the campus
  • Effectively deals with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
  • Stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions
  • New Way requires employees to be physically present on campus, with limited exceptions that are at the sole discretion of the School. Under extraordinary circumstances, some or all of the workforce may be required to move to a remote working environment. Additionally, certain individuals may also be approved for limited remote work, based on the nature of the job description, specific circumstances, and only with written prior approval by a direct supervisor.
Education, Certificate, and Requirements
  • Hold valid fingerprint clearance card
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education
  • Experience working with young children, particularly in grades K-2, or in an inclusive educational setting.
Compensation
  • Competitive compensation based on experience in a range of $55,000 to $65,000
