Job description

Come be a part of the teaching team at New Way Academy for the 2026-2027 school year! We are seeking a highly qualified high school English teacher to join our high school team. Our high school teachers support the school’s mission to educate children with learning differences to fulfill their potential.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver instruction to high school classes of up to 12 students in the subject area assigned (English), adapting curriculum to meet the needs of each group throughout the day
  • Differentiate instruction to remediate what students need to learn and push them to rigorous content understanding
  • Integrate best practices by providing students with accommodations and modifications based on their learning needs
  • Maintain and utilize accurate and up-to-date data regarding student achievement
  • Empower students through high expectations, consistent routines, and strategies for success
  • Contribute to the drafting of each student’s quarterly report outlining their academic and social progress
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with parents, students, and colleagues
  • Work collaboratively with the other level and content teams

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Regularly works in standard office or classroom conditions and climate, occasionally works outdoors in varying weather conditions and climate
  • Regularly uses close and distance vision
  • Works at a computer screen for extended periods of time
  • Works at a desk for extended periods of time, frequently moves around campus
  • Ability to occasionally move items 30 lbs. across the campus
  • Effectively deals with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
  • Stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions
  • New Way requires employees to be physically present on campus, with limited exceptions that are at the sole discretion of the School. Under extraordinary circumstances, some or all of the workforce may be required to move to a remote working environment. Additionally, certain individuals may also be approved for limited remote work, based on the nature of the job description, specific circumstances, and only with written prior approval by a direct supervisor.
Education, Certificate, and Requirements
  • Holds valid and up-to-date teaching certificate in Arizona
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with a preferred emphasis on special education
  • Previous teaching experience, preferably at a high school level in the subject area of English
Compensation
  • Competitive compensation based on experience in a range of $55,000 to $65,000 per year
