Job summary

North St. Francois County R-I School District is seeking a part-time Academic Interventionist to support elementary students with reading, writing and math interventions within a Title I program.

The role requires an Elementary Teaching Certificate and experience with literacy development, Reading & Academic Interventions, and Missouri standards. You will work in pull-out/push-in settings, maintain student data, and collaborate with teachers and parents to drive progress.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide small group instruction and research-based interventions to improve reading, writing, math, and test-taking skills.
  • Maintain and use student data records to track progress.
  • Assist in developing and presenting learning materials and exercises.
  • Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning activities.
  • Establish and maintain classroom behavior standards to support learning.
  • Communicate regularly with parents via newsletters, notes, calls, conferences, and email.
  • Evaluate student growth and use data to guide educational decisions.
  • Identify student needs and refer for supports, including IEP planning, with extra time and resources.
  • Create engaging environments with displays and centers showing student work.
  • Develop standards-based assessments to drive Tier I–III instruction.
  • Collaborate with teachers and district staff and apply evidence-based instructional strategies.

SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting in the planning, developing, and implementing academic support services for elementary students.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(Other duties may be assigned.)



  • Work with students in pull out and/or push in setting with small group instruction & research based interventions to improve reading, writing, mathematical skills, core area achievement, and test taking abilities

  • Provides small group academic instruction and support. Records, maintains, and uses records of student data

  • Assists instructional personnel with the development and presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises

  • Tutors students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow up learning activity

  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere using research based strategies

  • Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, email, etc

  • Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports and uses data to guide educational decisions

  • Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans, provides extra time and support for each student

  • Creates an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays interest centres and exhibits of student's work

  • Develops and maintains standard based assessments that are used to drive Tier I, II, and III instruction

  • Collaborates with other educators in the building and district

  • Utilizes research based instructional strategies

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Elementary Teaching Certificate and experience with literacy development, Reading & Academic Interventions, and Missouri Communication Arts Standards


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before people.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to operate a personal computer and related software. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
