Job description

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Teacher to support the lead teacher in a Montessori Primary classroom for children aged 3-5 at Fraser Woods Montessori School in Newtown, CT. The Assistant Teacher will help create a nurturing and engaging learning environment in line with our mission, goals, objectives, and educational philosophy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing and maintaining the classroom environment, ensuring materials are organized and easily accessible.
  • Support students in their daily routines, fostering independence and self-regulation.
  • Observe and document children’s progress and behaviors, providing feedback to the lead teacher.
  • Promote a respectful and inclusive atmosphere consistent with Montessori philosophy.
  • Guide children in their social and emotional development, encouraging problem-solving and cooperation.
  • Ensure a safe and clean classroom environment.
  • Facilitate lunch and nap time for three-year-old students.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with young children, preferably in a Montessori setting.
  • Understanding of or willingness to learn Montessori philosophy and methods.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for early childhood education.

Hours:

The position requires working from 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM on all school days in session.
