Job description

Assistant Lecturer in Electrical Trades (Fixed Term Contract)

The School of Engineering wishes to recruit for an Assistant Lecturer post in Electrical Trades. The person appointed will have responsibility for the delivery of Phase 4 and Phase 6 curricula in the Electrical apprenticeship and may deliver on some part-time programmes. The appointment will be made on a full time, half-time or hourly paid basis, for a fixed term of 1 year with the possibility of an extension to 3 years. The appointment commences in January 2025.


Qualifications:

  1. Candidates should hold as a minimum a primary Level 6 Advanced Certificate craft qualification in Electrical trades (or equivalent) with at least three years post qualification experience.
  2. Other level 6 advanced craft certificates such as Electrical Instrumentation may also be considered for the post.
  3. Where candidates have a relevant Honours Degree, three years post qualification experience will suffice.
  4. The focus will be on the candidates ability to deliver the standards based electrical curriculum at both phase 4 and phase 6 training.
  5. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

Desirable:

  1. Honours Degree in relevant Engineering discipline (or equivalent).
  2. Relevant teaching experience.
  3. Appropriate IT skills (MS Office, Solidworks/CAD, etc).
