Job description

Start: Fall School Year of 2025-2026

Schedule: 8AM to 3:30PM (with one hour WFH)

Starting salary: $44,000 to 55,000 (based on a 10 month contract and depending on experience)

Program: Early Childhood Program (ages 3 to 6)

Serving children ages 18 months to 12 years of age, Bellevue Montessori has been educating children on the eastside of Seattle for almost 60 years. Our diverse community and commitment to mentoring our staff in authentic Montessori practices makes the Bellevue Montessori School community a supportive and dynamic place to teach!

This position exercises collaboration and independent judgment to lead classes, prepare the Montessori classroom environment, create materials and activities, manage one or more Assistant Teachers and/or Floaters, handle complex parent and student issues, and participate in campus events and community building, etc. Each classroom has a secondary Montessori Primary certified staff person (Associate Teacher) to support you in your work with the children.

Professional Development

  • Participate in periodic professional development opportunities
  • Maintain good standing with AMS and STARS Professional Development
  • Participate in observations with other teachers and staff (both as the observer and as the observed)

Academic Administration

  • Engage in various administrative activities that support the school's academic programs (e.g. planning for events, participating in staff meetings or one-on-one Head of School meetings, etc.)

Requirements

  • A Montessori Teaching Credential from an AMS or AMI-recognized training center at the Primary level.Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Ability to relate to and inspire students on their independent educational journey
  • Experience leading a Primary classroom and establishing a normalized environment based on kindness and respect. Support and mentoring provided by our Primary Educational Director as needed.
  • Evidence of emotional maturity and stability.
  • Strong personal communication and written communication skills.
  • Technical skills that support recordkeeping (Google Classroom, Transparent Classroom) and parent communication.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, and at least 18 years of age.
  • Willingness to complete state requirements: Infant/Child First Aid & CPR Training, MMR immunization, TB Test, Background Check & Fingerprinting, Food Handler’s Permit.
