Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Primary Charge Nurse to oversee the unit during the shift, directing the business of the unit to meet patient and care-team needs.

Responsibilities include managing patient flow and throughput, coordinating resources, and serving as a role model for service excellence and standards of care. You will assign daily work and support staff within licensure guidelines.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree in nursing OR Bachelor's degree in nursing must be obtained within 3 years of date of hire into role.
• Licensure/ Certification: Current Registered Nurse licensure by the State Board of Nursing in appropriate state (Illinois or Michigan). BLS and ACLS, PALS, or other certification as required by unit.
• Other Skills/ Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and direct the business of the unit within the shift to meet patient and care team needs.
• Responsible for patient flow and throughput, ensuring processes and resources are optimized to meet patient needs.
• Serve as a role model for customer service, patient care standards, and professional relationships.
• Determines work priorities, prepares daily work assignments, and serves as a resource person for unit personnel in resolving operational and patient care problems.
