Job summary

The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System in Tucson, AZ seeks a Board-certified/eligible Family or Internal Medicine physician to serve as Section Chief of Mental Health Primary Care. You will lead a multidisciplinary team delivering integrated primary care to Veterans with complex needs.

This daytime M-F leadership role oversees 4 PACT teams, mentors staff, and shapes program development to improve patient outcomes within a co-located mental health setting.

Qualifications

• Board-certified/eligible in Family or Internal Medicine.
• Active, unrestricted US medical license.
• Demonstrated physician leadership experience.
• Deep commitment to Veteran-centered, team-based care.
• Passion for working with individuals living with mental illness and/or homelessness.

Responsibilities

• Lead as Section Chief & Clinic Director for Mental Health Primary Care.
• Supervise and mentor a team of interdisciplinary professionals.
• Oversee PACT teams (SMI-PACT and H-PACT) and promote integrated primary care.
• Provide high-quality outpatient primary care in a co-located setting.
• Collaborate with colleagues in primary care and behavioral health to drive excellence.

• Oversee 4 specialized PACT teams (3 SMI-PACT, 1 H-PACT), championing integrated primary care for Veterans with co-existing mental health diagnoses.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Board-certified/eligible in Family or Internal Medicine
• Active, unrestricted US medical license
• Demonstrated physician leadership experience
• Deep commitment to Veteran-centered, team-based care
• Passion for working with individuals living with mental illness and/or homelessness
• Excellent interpersonal and teaching skills
• Preferred: Mental health experience and interest in advancing integrated care.

Outstanding VA Benefits

• Competitive Compensation: $265,000-$290,000/yr, plus annual bonus and regular salary increases
