The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a dedicated physician to provide primary care services within the Hampton VA Health Care System. This role involves assessing and treating patients, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring compliance with medical standards. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
Duties
This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 30, 2025 or until all positions are filled. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be 30 May 2025, with subsequent cut-off dates every two weeks. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are filled.

Major Duties and Responsibilities to include but not be limited to:
1.Provides primary care services to walk-ins in a same-day access clinic or, if there is a call out, is deployed to that clinic to cover and see patients. Position requires 50% travel.
2. Provides a full range of services including assessment and using the most appropriate techniques in providing quality care in their subspecialty.
3. Perform appropriate evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment of patients.
4. Provide a full range of therapeutic interventions in units/programs in the Hampton VA Health Care System to which they are assigned and has clinical privileges to practice including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation, and management.
5. Participates effectively in team meetings and treatment planning conferences and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members in a manner that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care.
6. Orders diagnostic tests and discriminates between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions.
7. Ensures that the practice of medicine is consistent with the Joint Commission, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), VA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, VISN standards, national statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, mandatory continuing education, and HIPAA policies.
8. Specific tasks are itemized in each physician's Credentialing and Privileging package.
9. Performs other tasks as assigned by the Chief of Primary Care Services.
10. When a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) panel position comes available; the incumbent would be reassigned to the vacant panel PACT position.
Recruitment/Relocation Incentive: A recruitment incentive may be authorized for highly qualified applicants.
EDRP Authorized: Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) Authorized: This position is eligible for EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of your start date. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting

Work Schedule: 8:00AM-4:30PM - Monday - Friday, 40 hours/per week- Incumbent will work 2 Saturdays per month for a half day, with the following Mondays a half day, totaling 80 hours per pay period.
