Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, seeks a full-time Primary Care Physician to join a large, mission-driven team serving Veterans.

Physicians lead patient-centered medical homes with a diverse team of nurses, social workers, mental health providers, pharmacists and administrative staff. This position participates in the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) with potential loan repayment and benefits.

Qualifications

• US citizenship as per VA policy
• MD degree from an approved medical school
• Current full and unrestricted medical license
• Residency in an approved program leading to board eligibility
• Board eligibility or board certification preferred
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Preferred minimum of 5 years of clinical practice

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary and acute care to Veterans in an outpatient setting
• Manage patient care through assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning
• Conduct same-day care and cross-coverage for other providers
• Supervise and train resident physicians and medical students
• Collaborate with mid-level providers (Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants)
• Participate in quality assurance and process improvement initiatives
• Support administrative tasks related to patient management
• Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and community agencies
• Promote a collaborative, professional work environment and meet program goals
• All other duties as assigned
• Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
