Responsibilities

• Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatments for a specified patient population.
• Prescribes pharmaceuticals, medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
• Refers patients to specialists and relevant care components as needed.
• May manage daily operations of a medical program, patient care unit, or research function.
• Coordinates patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
• Follows departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
• Participates in health promotion, education, and prevention programs as appropriate.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Medical doctor with 3-5 years of related experience, including residency in a related medical specialty.
• Federal DEA Certification; Medical Specialty License or Certification; Board certified or Board Eligible in specified area.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
• Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for medical care.
• Knowledge of drugs and patient care aids, with ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients.
• Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards.
• Knowledge of community diagnostic and patient care services.
• Understanding of accreditation and certification requirements.
• Knowledge of current medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment principles.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
