Baystate Health, a not-for-profit, integrated health system in western Massachusetts, seeks an experienced Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician to join our employed team as Medical Director of Primary Care at the Bicentennial Highway practice in Springfield.

Baystate Health is a not-for-profit, integrated healthcare system in western Massachusetts which consists of an academic medical center, three community hospitals and the region’s largest multispecialty group. Our flagship hospital, Baystate Medical Center, is home to the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School-Baystate. We are seeking an experienced Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician to join our employed physician team as Medical Director of Primary Care at our Bicentennial Highway practice in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Position Highlights

• Serve as the clinical leader of an established community primary care practice while remaining clinically active and connected to patients.
• Dedicated protected leadership time to support practice leadership, team development, quality improvement, access, and operational priorities.
• Mentor physicians and APPs while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and patient-centered practice culture.
• Partner with practice and system leaders to advance patient safety, patient experience, provider engagement, access, and operational excellence.
• Support practice growth through physician and APP recruitment, onboarding, professional development, and retention.
• Champion evidence-based care, consistent clinical standards, team-based care, continuous improvement, and collaboration across Baystate Health.
• Teaching and academic opportunities may be available based on interest and qualifications.

Compensation: The compensation range below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full-time commitment for exempt employees.

Salary Range: $247,300-$346,120

Qualifications: MD or DO; board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. Eligible for unrestricted Massachusetts medical licensure. Candidates should be committed to high-quality outpatient primary care and an excellent patient experience, with strong communication and collaboration skills and an interest or experience in physician leadership, quality improvement, or practice transformation. Previous Medical Director experience is welcomed, but physicians ready to take the next step in their leadership career are encouraged to apply.
