Job summary

Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin is seeking an Internal Medicine physician for the Capitol Clinic in Wisconsin. This is an approximate 0.8 FTE position, about 32 hours per week, with responsibilities including comprehensive evaluation, management and procedural care for members and fee-for-service patients.

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted Wisconsin State Licensure as a Physician in a primary care specialty required.
  • Board certification is highly desirable and can be pursued within six months of employment.
  • Knowledge/experience in managed health care delivery required.
  • Ability to maintain currency in primary care.
  • Current valid Federal DEA registration.
  • CPR/AED certification required with 4-month acquisition window.
  • Medical management and HR/team leadership skills preferred or to be developed.
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Proficiency with EPIC or willingness to learn EMR systems.
  • Commitment to confidentiality per HIPAA policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality health care services to GHC-SCW members and fee-for-service patients.
  • Specialize in Internal Medicine with evaluation, management and procedural services.
  • Use professional judgment in patient care recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Chief of Staff MD and Site Chief for assigned clinic.

The Physician is responsible for providing high quality health care services to Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin (GHC-SCW) members. The Physician is specialized in Internal Medicine.The Physician provides a wide range of evaluation, management, and procedural services to GHC-SCW members and fee-for-service patients requesting care.The Physician serves under the general supervision and direction of the Chief of Staff MD with additional accountabilities to the Site Chief for the assigned clinic.The Physician is expected to use his/her professional judgment in making recommendations to patients for their personal medical care.

JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Current, unrestricted Wisconsin State Licensure as a Physician in a primary care specialty required.
  2. Board certification is highly desirable.Ability to become Board Certified within six (6) months of employment.
  3. Knowledge and/or experience in managed health care delivery required.
  4. Ability to maintain currency in area of expertise in primary care field.
  5. Current valid Federal Controlled Substance registration (DEA) Certificate.
  6. Possession of or eligibility for a valid Healthcare Provider CPR/AED certificate is required. Employee must obtain certification within four (4) months of employment.
  7. Medical management skills such as team building, HR management including conflict management, performance appraisal, coaching, and utilization management techniques required or the willingness to acquire through job training required.
  8. Ability to work within a team capacity required.
  9. Excellent written, verbal and non-verbal communication and interpersonal skills required in order to project a professional image to interact courteously and effectively with patients, the public, staff and others required.
  10. Ability to be culturally sensitive and to work with a diverse patient population.
  11. Ability to provide leadership and to delegate required.
  12. Ability to read and interpret various medical reports and/or results required.
  13. Ability to use and/or learn electronic medical record systems such as EPIC.
  14. Ability to learn and maintain currency with GHC-SCW and University of Wisconsin Hospitals & Clinics (UWHC) policies and procedures.
  15. Ability to maintain strict patient, proprietary and employee confidentiality required. Knowledge of HIPAA requirements.
