Job summary

Miramar Health Center in Pasco, WA is seeking a part-time Registered Dietitian to provide nutrition screening, assessment, and counseling to patients. You'll collaborate with physicians and care teams, address conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, and kidney disease, and document care in the EMR.

The role includes outreach, serving as a preceptor for dietetic interns, and supporting programs across the clinic.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Dietetics from an accredited U.S. college or university.
• ACEND‑accredited didactic program in dietetics.
• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential.
• Washington State Certified Dietitian credential (application required before start).
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred at a level 9.
• One year of clinic/primary care/outpatient experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nutritional screening and assessments, including anthropometric data, history, and lab data.
• Utilize motivational interviewing to set goals with patients and address food-related behaviors.
• Provide evidence-based nutrition recommendations for diabetes, cardiovascular disease, CKD, obesity and related conditions.
• Collaborate with physicians and health professionals to implement optimal nutrition care.
• Serve as a preceptor for dietetic interns and staff training.

What We Offer

• $33.08-$40.53/hour DOE with the ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates
• $2,500.00 Hiring Bonus Structure:
  • At Hire: $750.00
  • At 180 days 6 months): $1,000.00
  • At 12 months: $750.00

What You’ll Do:

• Conduct nutritional screening and assessment for patients/clients to include anthropometric and laboratory data, collection of nutrition history, calculation of nutrition adequacy, and identification of drug-nutrient interactions
• Utilize motivational interviewing to identify desired goals and outcomes of nutrition care in collaboration with the patient/client and health care professionals. Considers the variables that may influence the patient/client’s food-related behaviors, including culture and social determinants of health
• Evaluate and provide evidence-based nutrition recommendations to address patient/client medical needs. Understand and evaluate patient/client nutrition status and its relationship to complex disease states, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, gastrointestinal disorders, cancer, food allergies, and obesity
• Collaborate with physicians and other health care professionals to advocate for and implement optimal nutrition care
• Provide preventative services and counseling at individual patient/client visits and group meetings
• Serve as preceptor providing nutrition education and guidance to dietetic interns and students. Develops training materials and participates in mentoring of staff
• Assist in monitoring compliance to Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic (YVFWC) procedures, federal qualified health center quality metrics and/or state and federal WIC requirements
• Maintain awareness of community demographics and resources. Connects clients to resources
• Design and implements outreach activities to raise community awareness of program services
• Complete documentation in the appropriate electronic medical record to document patient/client interaction
• Actively participates in assigned meetings to promote care team collaboration and ongoing learning
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Dietetics from a U.S. regionally accredited college, university, or foreign equivalent for new graduates after January 2024. Dietitians credentialed prior to Jan 2024 are allowed to be grandfathered in with a Bachelor’s Degree
• Completion of ACEND‑accredited didactic program in dietetics
• Registered Dietitian Nutrition registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
• Washington State Certified Dietitian credential (application must be submitted prior to start date)
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred at a level 9
• One year of experience in a clinic, primary care, outpatient, or community setting is preferred
