Job summary

Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic seeks a Registered Dietitian to deliver medical nutrition therapy in a 1.0 FTE role in Yakima, WA. You will perform nutrition assessments, create goals with motivational interviewing, and coordinate care with the medical team.

The position offers pay rates of $31.20–$38.22/hour DOE, a $4,250 hiring/retention bonus structure, relocation assistance, generous PTO, holidays, and loan repayment options. Bilingual ability is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Dietetics from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • ACEND-accredited didactic program in dietetics completed.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Washington State Certified Dietitian credential (start date must be met).
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred at a high level.
  • One year of clinic, primary care, outpatient, or community experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments with anthropometric and lab review.
  • Use motivational interviewing to set individualized nutrition goals considering cultural and social factors.
  • Provide evidence-based nutrition care for diabetes, cardiovascular disease, CKD, GI disorders, cancer, allergies, and obesity.
  • Collaborate with physicians and care team for coordinated nutrition support.
  • Precept dietetic interns, develop training materials, mentor staff.
  • Ensure documentation in EMR and participate in care-team meetings.

Join our team as a Registered Dietitian at Yakima Medical-Dental Clinic in Yakima, WA!

Provide medical nutrition therapy for clinic medical patients and/or high-risk Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) clients. Functions as an interdisciplinary healthcare team member to assess and treat medical conditions and address individual nutrition needs.

Position Highlights

1.0 FTE (40 hours per week)

Additional pay for your bilingual skills, paid on hours worked

$31.20-$38.22/hour DOE with the ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates

$4,250.00 Hiring/Retention Bonus Structure:

At Hire: $1,275.00

At 180 days (6 months): $1,700.00

At 12 months: $1,275.00

What You’ll Do:

Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments, including anthropometric and lab review, nutrition history, and identification of drug-nutrient interactions

Use motivational interviewing to create individualized nutrition goals, considering cultural factors and social determinants that shape eating behaviors

Provide evidence ‑ based nutrition care for a wide range of conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, GI disorders, cancer, food allergies, and obesity

Collaborate with physicians and the care team to ensure patients receive coordinated, high-quality nutrition support through both individual visits and group education

Precept dietetic interns and students, develop training materials, and mentor clinical staff to support learning and professional development

Support compliance with organizational procedures, FQHC quality metrics, WIC requirements, and clinical standards such as TJC and HRSA

Stay connected to community demographics and resources, linking patients to supportive services and participating in outreach that raises awareness of clinic programs

Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record, actively engage in care ‑ team meetings, and contribute to other clinic needs as assigned

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Dietetics from a U.S. regionally accredited college, university, or foreign equivalent for new graduates after January 2024. Dietitians credentialed prior to Jan 2024 are allowed to be grandfathered in with a Bachelor’s Degree

Completion of ACEND ‑ accredited didactic program in dietetics

Registered Dietitian Nutrition registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration

Washington State Certified Dietitian credential (application must be submitted prior to start date)

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred at a level 9

One year of experience in a clinic, primary care, outpatient, or community setting is preferred
