Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Primary Care Medical Assistant in Kirkwood, MO. The role supports Mercy Primary Care Providers by rooming patients, taking vitals, and performing procedures as needed. BLS must be obtained within 90 days, and a CMA/CCMA/RMA credential is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred experience: 6 months clinical healthcare experience, preferably in a primary care office.
• Active Medical Assistant certification/registration (RMA, CCMA, CMA) and must obtain BLS within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient for visit with provider by completing rooming tasks and vital signs.
• Conduct medication reconciliation and review patient history and allergies.
• Assist with in-office testing (blood draw, EKGs, oxygen studies, etc.).
• Administer vaccines within scope of practice and schedule follow-up appointments.
• Collaborate with providers to coordinate delivery of the care plan and close care gaps (screenings, etc.).

Earn Your MA Certification with Mercy

Overview

Prepares patient for visit with provider by completing Advanced Standard room process including:

• Entering the chief complaint
• Taking patient vital signs; reviewing patient history and allergies
• Completing a thorough medication reconciliation
• Working the Encounter Guide including helping to close any open care gaps such as fall risk, depression screening, breast cancer screening, colorectal cancer screening, and diabetic eye exam
• Rechecking elevated blood pressures
• Completing needed documentation in Epic for yearly preventative visits as needed.
• Assists with any needed in-office testing including, but not limited to, drawing blood, completing mental status exams, EKG’s, walking oxygen studies and point of care testing.
• Administer vaccines and other injections within scope of practice.
• Schedules follow up appointments when needed per office policy.
• Collaborates with providers and clinical care team to monitor and coordinate delivery of the care plan.

Primary Care Assistant - Medical Assistant

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Certification: Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Primary Care - Certified Medical Assistant

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Certification: Must have active Medical Assistant certification/registration (RMA, CCMA, CMA). Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

LPN Qualifications

• Education: Diploma in Practical Nursing
• Licensure: Active LPN licensure
• Preferred Experience: 6 months clinical healthcare experience, preferably in a primary care office
