Montessori Children's Academy in Villa Park, IL, is seeking a warm, dependable Assistant Teacher to support our Primary classroom for ages 3–6. You will work alongside the Lead Montessori Teacher to nurture independence, confidence, and a love of learning.

Ideal candidates have a background in early childhood education, are eager to learn Montessori methods, and are committed to daily routines, safety, and positive guidance.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
• Experience with children ages 3–6 in preschool or Montessori settings preferred.
• Montessori experience or training is a plus but not required.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain is required.
• Must meet DCFS licensing requirements including background checks and trainings.

Responsibilities

• Support Lead Teacher in preparing and maintaining a safe, organized Montessori classroom.
• Assist during work cycles, encouraging independence and respectful interactions.
• Help prepare classroom materials and replenish supplies as directed.
• Supervise children indoors and outdoors to ensure safety.
• Support daily routines: arrival, dismissal, snack, lunch, nap, toileting and transitions.
• Model respectful communication and positive guidance aligned with Montessori principles.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness and organized shelving.
• Communicate observations to the Lead Teacher and families when appropriate.
• Contribute to staff meetings, professional development, and school events.
• Follow DCFS licensing standards and school policies.

Position Summary

Montessori Children’s Academy is seeking a warm, dependable, and nurturingAssistant Teacherto support our Primary (Ages 3–6) classroom. The Assistant Teacher works alongside the Lead Montessori Teacher to help maintain a peaceful, organized, and engaging learning environment where children can develop independence, confidence, and a love of learning.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with young children, is eager to learn about the Montessori philosophy, and is committed to supporting the daily needs of the classroom and school community.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in preparing and maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting Montessori classroom.
• Support children during the work cycle while encouraging independence and respectful interactions.
• Help prepare and replenish classroom materials as directed by the Lead Teacher.
• Supervise children indoors and outdoors to ensure a safe and nurturing environment.
• Assist with classroom routines, including arrival, dismissal, snack, lunch, nap/rest time, toileting, and transitions.
• Model respectful communication and positive guidance consistent with Montessori principles.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness by sanitizing materials, organizing shelves, and completing daily housekeeping tasks.
• Observe children and communicate important information to the Lead Teacher.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow staff members.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.
• Follow all DCFS licensing standards and school policies.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with children ages 3–6 in a preschool, childcare, or Montessori setting preferred.
• Montessori experience or training is a plus but not required.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Patient, dependable, flexible, and enthusiastic about working with young children.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Must meet all DCFS licensing requirements, including background checks and required trainings.
