Job summary

ShopRite of South Plainfield is hiring a Scanning Clerk to support pricing updates, ensure accuracy, and assist customers in a fast-paced store environment. You will maintain pricing files, tag placement, and scanning operations while upholding health, safety, and courtesy standards.

This role requires strong English skills, basic math, the ability to lift 25 lbs regularly (50 lbs occasionally), and a cooperative team mindset.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
• Ability to perform basic math and use a calculator.
• Able to lift 25 lbs regularly and 50 lbs occasionally.
• Comfortable working in varying store temperatures.
• Able to operate a computer terminal and calculator.
• Comfortable handling food products with proper hygiene.
• Able to interact with customers in a friendly manner.
• Able to work cooperatively with others.
• Able to meet scheduling and attendance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Accurately implement weekly price changes transmitted to the store file.
• Maintain pricing accuracy to match circulars and ads.
• Maintain UPL tags and ensure correct placement.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and pricing standards.
• Perform duties in accordance with health and safety regulations for scanning operations.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Ensure items are properly signed, tagged, and scanned.
• Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Communicate effectively with all departments and complete required training.
