Job summary

Bronson Healthcare seeks a Financial Counselor Price Estimates to assist patients and guarantors with healthcare funding solutions, review financial status, and establish payment options. The role involves pre-admission activities, cashiering, and maintaining patient accounts through discharge, ensuring accuracy and clear communication.

The position requires 1 year of relevant experience and knowledge of insurance programs, with an Associate’s degree preferred and Notary credentials optional.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience required within a hospital or clinic environment, insurance company, managed care organization, or other financial service setting, performing financial counseling, financial clearance and/or customer service activities.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Notary public credentials preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance and governmental programs (Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security Disability, Champus, SSI, etc.) and coordination of benefits.
• Data entry skills (50-60 keystrokes per minute).
• Basic computer skills preferable.

Responsibilities

• Meet with patients/guarantors to determine financial status and assist with funding options.
• Perform cashiering and customer service activities throughout the patient journey.
• Review and enter demographic, clinical, financial and insurance data for the counseling process.
• Inform patients of liabilities and collect payments (co-pays, co-insurances, deductibles, deposits).
• Counsel patients on funding options, including Medicaid, Medicare, and other programs.
• Assist in completing applications for funding sources and notary duties as needed.
• Provide pricing estimates and communicate pre-service patient liability.
