Job summary

Hanson Bridgett LLP seeks a Pricing Analyst to support the firm’s pricing and budgeting strategy from its California base. You will work with the pricing director, attorneys, and PMs to structure fees, model profitability, respond to RFPs, and deliver dashboards and reports that highlight pricing performance.

The role requires 2+ years in legal pricing or financial analysis, familiarity with billing systems, and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in legal pricing or financial analysis in a legal environment.
• Experience with legal billing or practice management systems (Aderant, Elite 3E, Clio, etc.).
• Strong familiarity with legal industry metrics like realization, utilization, leverage and net margin.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to translate data into actionable insights for non-financial audiences.
• Comfortable working with senior stakeholders under deadline pressure.

Responsibilities

• Prepare blended and hourly rate fee proposals, plus alternative fee arrangement structures.
• Model profitability scenarios for proposed engagements and client portfolios of work.
• Analyze and respond to client RFPs.
• Track and report on realization rates, billing rates, and write-offs by practice group, client, and matter.
• Coordinate with key financial stakeholders on custom reports and dashboards.
• Support budget-to-actual analysis and coordination with legal project managers.
• Partner with business development managers to support attorney education.
• Support annual rate increase processes with financial planning professionals.
• Collaborate on competitive pricing strategies and pitch preparation.
• Assist with development and maintenance of dashboards and reports for leadership visibility.
• Monitor industry benchmarks and competitive intelligence on peer firm pricing trends.
• Assist with implementation of client outside counsel guideline compliance review.

Working closely with the pricing director, attorneys, legal project managers, and business development, this role plays a central part in helping the firm win and retain clients while maintaining profitability.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

• Prepare blended and hourly rate fee proposals, plus alternative fee arrangement structures
• Model profitability scenarios for proposed engagements and client portfolios of work
• Analyze and respond to client RFPs
• Track and report on realization rates, billing rates, and write-offs by practice group, client, and matter, plus coordinate with key financial stakeholders on custom reports

Required Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications

Compensation

Hanson Bridgett offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The annual salary for this California-based role is anticipated to be in the area of $90,000.00 – $115,000.00, and represents the firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation is negotiable and will depend upon several factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s years of experience, qualifications, and skill set.
