Job summary

arc Thrift Stores in Fort Collins is seeking a Furniture Associate to price, test, and merchandise donated furniture, mattresses, and appliances on the sales floor. You will work with the assistant store manager to meet department targets and maintain a clean, organized furniture area.

You will provide receipts to customers, assist with mattress inquiries, process donations for tax purposes, and help keep the area safe and stocked.

Responsibilities

• Sets department production targets weekly with assistant manager and is accountable for reaching those targets.
• Maintains target price per item and uses price grid as a guideline.
• Prices and displays donations on the sales floor and tests appliances to ensure functionality.
• Keeps the furniture area clean and stocked; sweeps and cleans as needed.
• Provides customers with written receipts for furniture purchases.
• Assists customers with mattress inquiries and product questions.
• Accepts donations and provides donors with tax receipts.
• Maintains safe, organized work area and adheres to company policies.
• Performs other duties and assignments as directed, including tasks outside primary area.

Position DescriptionJob Title FurnitureSep-24FLSA Status – Non ExemptSummaryPrices and cleans furniture items to achieve maximum value. Maintains and merchandises furniture, mattresses, and appliances on the sales floor. Reports to the assistant store manager or the store manager.Essential Duties and Responsibilities.Sets department production targets weekly with assistant manager and is accountable for reaching those targets.Maintains target price per item.Uses price grid as a guideline.Supplies store with merchandise by testing (appliances), pricing items, and displaying donations on the sales floor.Keeps the furniture area clean and stocked.Cleans furniture area daily of dust, broken items, non-saleable and damaged goods.Provides customers who are purchasing furniture with a written receipt for the cashier.Assists customers with mattress inquires.Accepts donations and provides donors with a receipt for tax purposes.Keeps work area clean.Allows 10 minutes before quitting time for sweeping and cleaning up.Performs other duties and special assignments as directed, including assignments, which may be outside the primary area of employment.QualificationsKnowledge, Skill and AbilityAbility to recognize merchandise quality and price it competitively.Ability to make decisions about merchandise quality, whether merchandise is saleable and when to reduce prices to sell merchandise.Ability to interact effectively with customers.Ability to write receipts.Ability to observe the production process and to communicate with the supervisor and other team members to keep the production process moving.Ability to present a positive Company image and be courteous to customersAbility to work as a productive member of a team.Education and/or Experience RequiredExperience working with a diverse workforce.Ability to work with individuals possessing developmental disabilities.Ability to use good judgment.Energy to take on fast-paced work.Good listener.Physical DemandsWorks inside in a production and retail environment.Exposure to temperature fluctuations.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak, hear, stand and move throughout the store.Use upper body strength to frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.Utilizes proper equipment.While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to dust from donations.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly standing, bending, stooping and walking.While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to lift the arms shoulder height or above.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
