Job summary

A union construction contractor in New Orleans is seeking an individual for equipment maintenance. The role involves inspecting and performing routine preventative maintenance on heavy construction equipment, including fluid replacements and safety checks. Candidates should have experience with heavy equipment and be able to comply with safety regulations and DOT requirements. All wages and benefits are determined by the union agreement, starting at 90% of the journeyman scale for new hires.

Qualifications

• Preferred experience servicing and maintaining heavy equipment.
• Applicable Class D license and a clean MVR.
• Successful completion of site-specific safety training.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and perform routine preventive maintenance on heavy construction equipment.
• Replace oils and fluids in equipment.
• Inspect equipment using work order checklists.
• Obtain and document oil samples.
• Maintain safety standards and procedures.
• Follow EPA and local regulations for chemical use.

Job description

Job Summary

This individual inspects and performs routine preventive maintenance services and determines maintenance needs on heavy construction equipment. This work is performed both on the job site itself as well as in the Company’s shops.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Replacing oils and other fluids in various pieces of equipment including but not limited to: welding machines, excavators, dozers, cranes, air compressors, back hoes, etc.
2. Inspects equipment using a work order checklist given for each preventive maintenance job.
3. Obtains oil samples from equipment and properly documents information.
4. Maintains a safe work environment by verifying the operations of vehicle and equipment safety devices and by following safety standards and procedures.
5. Adheres to all company and OSHA mandated safety policies and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
6. Follows established EPA laws and local regulations involving chemical use, disposal, and identification reporting guidelines.
7. Practices good housekeeping and safeguards resources.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience

• Experience with heavy equipment; preferred experience servicing and maintaining equipment.
• Ability to comply with all DOT requirements, including an applicable Class D license and MVR.
• Ability to work overtime when needed.
• Ability to successfully complete site‑specific safety training courses and tests.
• Detail oriented and thorough in completing tasks assigned.
• Dependable, fulfilling commitments.
• Capable of exercising sound independent judgment.

Boh Bros. is a union contractor. All wages and benefits are determined by the union agreement. All new hires will be paid 90% of the journeyman scale for the first 300 hours of employment.
