Job summary

Auburn University Facilities Management seeks an Assistant Supervisor for the Preventive Maintenance shop. You will oversee a skilled maintenance workforce, plan tasks, and ensure safety and quality in building upkeep across campus.

You will coordinate multi-trades personnel and contractors, diagnose and supervise repairs to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, and maintain accurate work data for reporting to leadership. This is a continuing, on-site leadership role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 5 years of experience in construction and trades.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Substitutions allowed for experience: education may substitute for experience at 1 year education per year of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates the daily tasks performed by University multi-tradespersons and contractors ensuring that all involved meet University standards and contract requirements.
• Assists in diagnosing problems; performing repairs; and replacing parts related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and/or mechanical equipment.
• Assists with ensuring that timely and accurate data is maintained in the work management system to provide proper reporting for clients and senior leadership within Facilities and the University.
• Ensures the quality and timely responsiveness of assigned maintenance activities, including after-hours response to emergency calls.
• Maintains awareness of records and documentation of work activities, supplies, and equipment; communicates with the Supervisor, Preventive Maintenance to keep them aware of activities within the department.
• Participates in the recruitment of multi-trade positions including reviewing resumes and participating in interviews; assists with performance review evaluations.
