Job summary

SCO Family of Services is seeking a dedicated caseworker to provide comprehensive casework and planning for at‑risk children and families. The role emphasizes child-centered, family-focused, neighborhood-based services, plus regular home visits and documentation of case events.

Responsibilities include assessing safety, building community connections, collaborating with service providers, and maintaining required records. On-call availability 24/7 for emergencies is required unless on vacation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with prior professional experience in working with at‑risk families.
• Promising professional competence through a good academic record, three references and a stable work history.
• Ability to conduct detailed, factual interviews and provide accurate written reports.
• Clear communication skills, handwriting ability and computer use.
• Familiarity with community resources and needs in the served area.
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently when appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Assesses the health and safety of children in the household and identifies needs of all members.
• Builds relationships with families and local service providers to strengthen community networks.
• Participates in collaborative, neighborhood-based activities that expand resources for families.
• On‑Call 24/7 for emergencies/crisis intervention unless on vacation.
• Assists in referrals and advocacy services and tracks service receipt.
• Utilizes community resources affiliated with the program to support families.
• Maintains all required records, including progress notes and reports.
• Performs other tasks as deemed necessary.
