Job summary

Aahealth in Annapolis, MD is seeking a Prevention Supervisor within the STOP/STEPS program to coordinate substance use prevention initiatives. You will supervise a diverse team of Prevention Specialists and Coordinators, ensure data and reporting compliance, and lead training for schools, agencies, and parents.

Hours are 40 per week in a full-time county contract, with health benefits and an option for deferred compensation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Directly supervising and providing administrative oversight to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Coordinating substance use and misuse prevention initiatives, ensuring all evidence-based model programs are implemented with fidelity.
  • In program management, assisting with leadership duties, operational oversight and administrative decision-making.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills to deliver presentations, exhibits and trainings to community partners, school staff, youth and parents.
  • Representing organizational interests in interagency meetings and stakeholder engagements.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor across diverse community environments.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Nature of Work:

Under the supervision of the STEPS Program Manager, serve as the Prevention Supervisor responsible for coordinating the Department of Health’s Bureau of Behavioral Health substance use and misuse prevention initiatives. In this capacity, act as a second to the Program Manager, assisting with leadership duties and operational oversight when needed. Provide direct supervision and administrative oversight to a diverse team of Prevention Specialists and Coordinators, including the Fatal Overdose Review Team (FORT) Coordinator, Opioid Misuse Prevention Program (OMPP) Coordinator, Cannabis Prevention Specialist, Youth Substance Misuse Coordinator, and Bilingual Family Skills Supervisor.

Ensure that all prevention activities utilize evidence-based models and are implemented with 100% fidelity. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with federal and state grant conditions, managing the timely submission of required data and reports and facilitating community outreach and education trainings for schools, agencies and parents.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health or a related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

  • Directly supervising and providing administrative oversight to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Coordinating substance use and misuse prevention initiatives, ensuring all evidence-based model programs are implemented with 100% fidelity.
  • In program management, assisting with leadership duties, operational oversight and administrative decision-making.
  • Proven ability to maintain, manage and ensure the timely, accurate submission of required performance data, grant conditions and performance reports.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills to deliver presentations, exhibits and educational trainings to community partners, school staff, youth, parents and Department of Health leadership.
  • Representing organizational interests in interagency, education and prevention-focused stakeholder meetings to provide actionable feedback to Department directors.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and provide effective services across diverse, high-impact community and correctional environments.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Anne Arundel County Behavioral Health Systems and Community Resources. In-depth understanding of local health department programs, community-based organizations, public safety partners and county support networks. Knowledge of Evidence-Based Substance Use Prevention Models. Familiarity with county-level prevention frameworks, strategic prevention frameworks (SPF) and program fidelity standards.
