ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides substance abuse education utilizing an evidence-based program in a classroom setting.
- Participates in the development of curriculum materials, activities, and lesson planning as needed.
- Conducts pre- and post-surveys in all evidence-based programs.
- Serves as a resource for parents, school counselors, teaching staff, and administrators, and identifies school system needs.
- Supports prevention efforts and collaborations across community segments and agencies, aligned with the 6 CSAP strategies.
- Maintains expertise in prevention content areas and communicates agency programs, services, and resources to the community.
- Understands South Carolina laws related to ATOD and other health issues.
- Assists in developing promotional materials, ATOD campaigns, and social media messaging for parents and youth.
- Participates in Keystone’s and schools’ drug-free events, such as Red Ribbon Week.
- Submits prevention data to funding sources on time and shares results with stakeholders; enters class information into the Prevention Portal promptly.
- Cultivates new strategic partnerships.
- Requires regular and reliable attendance and coordinates with supervisors to cover duties during absences.
- Proficient in MS Office and other relevant software applications, including email and Medical Records software.
- Attends all mandatory trainings and licensure, and undergoes annual TB screening.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Prevention Specialist: Bachelor’s degree in social science from a regionally accredited program. No experience required; 1-3 years in education or behavioral health preferred. CPS status or pursuit of CPS as per DAODAS guidelines is preferred.
