Job summary

BHcare is seeking a Prevention Specialist to join the Alliance for Prevention & Wellness (APW) team in Connecticut. The role focuses on overdose response, substance misuse prevention, mental health promotion, and coalition building within North Haven and surrounding communities.

The position requires a 4-year degree or equivalent experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to engage diverse partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
• Experience or interest in substance misuse prevention and community engagement.
• Strong written and verbal communication with public speaking experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with community assessments and needs identification.
• Coordinate trainings and outreach to partners and coalitions.
• Implement evidence-informed prevention strategies and overdose prevention messaging.
• Build partnerships with state, regional, and local stakeholders.
• Deliver engaging educational presentations and trainings.
• Support coalition development and community collaboration efforts.
• Collect and manage program data for reporting and evaluation.
