Job summary

ProgressiveHealth is seeking an energetic Industrial Prevention Specialist to deliver on-site injury prevention services at JFK Airport for a major airline. You will assess ergonomic needs, run training sessions, and coach employees to reduce musculoskeletal risk.

The role focuses on occupational care, ergonomic support, and education, with strong documentation and reporting to leadership. A relevant background and certifications are preferred, with a competitive starting hourly rate.

Qualifications

  • Background in athletic training, kinesiology, exercise science or related field.
  • Professional certification in strength/conditioning or exercise science preferred (CSCS/NSCA/ACSM).
  • CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain before start; maintain proof of certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ergonomic assessments and recommendations to prevent MSK conditions.
  • Conduct in-person ergo/lift training sessions for employees at JFK site.
  • Provide proactive injury prevention and OSHA First Aid education.
  • Document outcomes and provide reports with metrics to leadership and clients.

We are looking for an energetic and results-driven Industrial Prevention Specialist to provide injury prevention services onsite for a major airline carrier at the JFK Airport. We strive to increase the industrial athlete’s ability to perform their job duties safely and decrease the risk of injury through intervention at the early onset of discomfort in a dynamic work environment. This position will strategically support employees by providing occupational care, ergonomic support/training, education, and coaching. What will you be doing in this role?

  • Providing ergonomic assessments and support by understanding the site operations, job processes, and physical demands to make ergonomic recommendations to prevent more serious musculoskeletal conditions from occurring
    • Conducting in-person ergo/lift training sessions in a small classroom setting
    • Guiding employees through an operational simulation with observations and feedback
  • Providing proactive injury prevention and OSHA First Aid injury, including ergonomic postural education.
  • Keeping accurate, detailed documentation with efficiency while being able to provide feedback to the industrial athlete and client for continuous health improvements
  • Understanding and providing reports with key metrics to leadership, client partners, and operations management

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A background in Athletic Training, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Health & Wellness, Health Promotion, Public Health, Physical Education, Sports Science, Fitness, Personal Training, Athletics, Occupational Ergonomics, Human factors,Safety & Environmental, or a related field
  • Relevant professional certification in strength and conditioning, exercise science, or a related field preferred (e.g., CSCS, NSCA-CPT, ACSM-CPT, or equivalent).
  • CPR/AED certification or the ability to obtain it prior to the start of employment; maintain and provide proof of current certification(s)
  • Basic knowledge of workers' compensation and OSHA regulations, preferred
  • The ability to stand, walk, and sit throughout the entire assigned shift
  • Ergonomic and/or occupational health experience
  • Previous experience with public speaking in a training environment is preferred
  • A high degree of professionalism in both written and verbal communication
  • The ability to work both independently and in a team environment, without constant supervision
  • Be able to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with databases and with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
