Job summary

Greenville County Commission On Alcohol & Drug Abuse is seeking an experienced outreach specialist to organize and present alcohol and other drug information to the community. The role involves coordinating prevention activities, training professionals, and fostering partnerships with local organizations.

The position requires a 4-year degree in social sciences with at least two years in health or human services, and a valid SC driver's license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in the social sciences or related area of study with a minimum of two years of direct experience in a health or human services occupation.
• Master's in Social Sciences is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Initiates, plans, and conducts prevention/education activities for community groups, civic clubs, churches, businesses, schools, and other organizations.
• Develops and maintains harmonious working relationships with other community organizations and agencies addressing alcohol and drug abuse problems.
• Provides supportive and informational services to parent groups in developing and implementing prevention activities.
• Provides training for teachers, health care professionals, law enforcement officers, and other professional groups.
• Markets prevention programs to the community and referral sources as needed.
• Maintains an accurate record of activities for monthly reports to the supervisor.
• Enter required data on a weekly basis.
• Participates in training and professional development activities.
• Serves on community, regional, and state committees as needed.
