Job summary

Charleston County Government in South Carolina is seeking a highly motivated candidate to plan, organize and implement substance use prevention services throughout the community, educating citizens on the dangers of alcohol, tobacco, and other substances.

The role includes disseminating information to civic organizations, schools and the public; developing community-based prevention activities; collaborating with local agencies and law enforcement; maintaining records; and attending meetings of

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a closely related field with at least 1 year of related experience, or equivalent
• Knowledge of pharmacological drugs and substance use disorders
• Proficient computer skills
• Public speaking skills
• Must possess and maintain a valid SC Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Disseminate information to civic organizations, schools, community groups and the public
• Develop community-based prevention activities
• Collaborate with other agencies, including local law enforcement
• Perform administrative duties to track activities
• Attend meetings of coalitions to garner support for community awareness
• Provide excellent customer service and public speaking engagements
• Review materials to stay current on practices and developments
• May be required to work during hazardous weather and emergencies
