The role emphasizes program development, education, and collaboration with youth, schools, workplaces, and local organizations. A BA/BS in a related field is preferred, with training and certification requirements within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Education, Public Health, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Human Services, or Criminal Justice.
• Must complete Prevention Specialist Training within 12 months of hire.
• Ethics training within 3 months of hire.
• Certification by the Iowa Board of Certification as a Prevention Specialist within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with community stakeholders to drive prevention of substance use disorders.
• Analyze data to develop plans using best practices.
• Deliver group presentations to schools, industry, and community groups.
• Recruit and coordinate qualified volunteers to meet project goals.
• Prepare timely reports as required by contracts and policies.
