Qualifications

• Doctor of medicine or osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school; foreign graduates may apply with ECFMG cert.
• Current license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico.
• Eligibility for board certification.
• Completion of at least one year of an approved graduate medical education internship.
• Completion of a preventive medicine training program or ABPM certification in preventive medicine/public health.
• Between 21 and 42 years of age; waivers granted case-by-case.
• U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and direct a preventive medicine program to maintain health and prevent disease and injury.
• Lead efforts to improve physical fitness and prevent illness among Soldiers.
• Support humanitarian missions and leadership training while serving.

Education

Doctor of medicine or Doctor of osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school

Permanent certificate from ECFMG for foreign graduates

Completion of at least one year of an approved graduate medical education internship

ACGME approved residency program in preventive medicine or ABPM/AO PME certification in preventive medicine or public health

Eligibility for board certification
