Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills, including MS Excel.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Mechanical Trade School certificate or degree preferred.
  • NYS Inspectors License is necessary.

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Preventive Maintenance Technician performs preventive maintenance service on all types of trucks and/or equipment, including diesel and non-diesel, to maximize safe and productive operations. The primary focus of the Preventive Maintenance Technician is on preventative maintenance and other mechanic tasks. This position is expected to be second shift (3:00 - 11:30 PM).

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs preventative maintenance and basic repairs on electrical, diesel, and gasoline vehicles, including compactors, excavators, wheel loaders, and other vehicles to ensure safety and productivity.
  • Inspects trucks and heavy equipment for condition, operation, and fluid levels. Identifies and reports problems.
  • Power washes equipment as necessary.
  • Checks, fills, and changes fluids for all vehicle parts, including engine, transmission, differentials, final drives, pump drives, and hubs.
  • Greases, oils, and lubricates components during preventive maintenance.
  • Performs adjustments to various systems during maintenance.
  • Maintains and replaces air, oil, coolant, and fuel filters.
  • Performs cooling system maintenance.
  • Checks safety equipment on trucks and equipment.
  • Inspects tires.
  • Completes paperwork related to maintenance and repairs, documenting parts used and hours worked.
  • Drives trucks and equipment in and out of repair areas.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic computer skills, including MS Excel and word processing.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Mechanical Trade School certificate or degree.
  • NYS Inspectors License.
