Job summary

Mars is seeking skilled Preventive Maintenance Technicians in Utah to join our new plant launch. You’ll perform preventative maintenance on high-speed equipment, follow strict schedules, and ensure regulatory compliance across USDA, OSHA, FDA, and EPA standards.

Join a team focused on uptime, safety, and continuous improvement while working 12-hour rotating shifts and contributing to the rollout of a top-tier maintenance program.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical certification in industrial maintenance is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance strategies and equipment lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on assembly lines, conveyors, mixers, and ovens.
  • Create and follow maintenance schedules to reduce downtime.
  • Inspect equipment for wear and potential failures.
  • Ensure safety protocols and PPE usage.
  • Maintain records and update logs.
  • Coordinate lubrication schedules.
  • Perform basic repairs and adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot recurring issues and propose upgrades.
  • Assist in installing new equipment and integration.
  • Operate material-handling equipment safely.
  • Participate in team meetings and continuous improvement.

Shift: Days 1st shift (Orange) 12 hour rotating 2-2-3 schedule 6am - 6:30am

SUMMARY

We're seeking skilled and motivated Preventive Maintenance Technicians to join our team as we launch our new plant! This unique opportunity allows you to play a critical role in developing a top-tier preventive maintenance program. Your primary responsibility will be to perform preventative maintenance on advanced manufacturing equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency. This role requires expertise in proactive equipment care and compliance with all regulatory standards, including USDA, OSHA, FDA, EPA, and local guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on manufacturing equipment, including assembly lines, conveyors, mixers, and ovens.
  • Create and follow detailed maintenance schedules to reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Conduct inspections to identify wear, potential failures, and areas needing improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards, including the proper use of PPE and safety protocols.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and update equipment logs.
  • Coordinate and execute lubrication schedules using proper lubricants for specific equipment.
  • Perform basic repairs and adjustments during inspections to keep equipment in optimal condition.
  • Troubleshoot and recommend solutions for recurring issues or equipment upgrades.
  • Assist in installing new equipment and integrating it into the preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Operate and maintain material-handling equipment like forklifts and scissor lifts safely and efficiently.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in preventive maintenance within a manufacturing environment (food industry experience preferred).
  • Skills: Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities, especially for high-speed production equipment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems, including control systems.
  • Tools: Familiarity with maintenance tools, including voltmeters, amp meters, and lubrication equipment.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and occasional overtime.
  • Safety First: Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical certification in industrial maintenance or a related field is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance strategies and equipment lifecycle management.
