Job summary

Newport Harbor Island Resort in Newport, RI is seeking a Preventative Maintenance Engineer to protect the safety, reliability and comfort of guest spaces. You will perform planned maintenance on mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, inspect equipment, and coordinate with other departments to minimize downtime.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, plus technical certification or degree is a plus; strong problem-solving, teamwork and physical stamina are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree is a plus.
• Proven preventive maintenance experience in a facilities setting.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular preventive maintenance tasks on mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Inspect and maintain equipment including HVAC, boilers and generators.
• Identify and resolve maintenance issues promptly and efficiently.
• Conduct routine inspections to identify potential problems proactivey.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment inventory.
• Follow safety protocols and keep a clean, organized work area.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior maintenance team members.
