Job summary

The Administrative Office of the Courts in Kentucky invites applications for a Pretrial Services Specialist – SHIFT with Caldwell County assignment. This role reviews arrested individuals to determine eligibility for pretrial release, conducts interviews, performs background checks, and makes release recommendations or consults with a judge when necessary.

The position tracks cases through court processes and monitors supervisees.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required.
• At least two years’ experience working with or within criminal justice, judicial and/or legal systems.
• Substitution rules: education may be substituted for experience and vice versa as stated.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial interview of defendant within 24 hours of jail booking, to include receiving arresting documents, performing defendant interviews, and contacting judges for bond information.
• Review defendant’s case history and risk assessment scores to determine the defendant’s eligibility for pretrial release and supervision.
• Prepare pretrial release recommendations or consult with a judge when necessary.
• Supervise defendants on Monitored Release and track adherence to court-ordered programs.
• Enter data and generate reports to support state statistics and court processes.
• Travel to counties regularly to conduct meetings, trainings, and workshops.
