Job summary

The City of Cleveland is seeking a Pretrial Services Supervision Officer to manage pretrial release cases, focusing on high-risk individuals and those diverted from standard processing.

You will review release conditions, coordinate with the Court and Sheriff's Office, and provide guidance to defendants. Strong communication, confidentiality, and case-management skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive pretrial information.
• Collaborate effectively with co-workers, judges, Sheriff’s Office staff, and Clerk’s Office staff.
• Learn and utilize Pretrial Services computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Reviews conditions of release/diversion with clients granted release or diversion.
• Manages individual caseload and monitors all reporting requirements.
• Determines level of risk; reviews all assigned cases.
• Provides community services referral information to clients and makes appropriate referrals.
• Reports to Court non-compliance of condition of release or diversion.
• Takes appropriate action for defendants who fail to appear.
• Prepares, distributes, and presents information to the Court involving specialized cases.
• Conducts investigations, including interviews, and documents thorough information.
• Provides guidance and counseling to alleviate problems which can lead to failure to appear.
• Prepares and presents bail reports with release eligibility recommendations to the court; participates in arraignment hearings.
• Verifies defendants’ bond status and updates the Sheriff’s Office and Clerk of Courts Office.
• Helps coordinate overall pre-arraignment activities for the assigned shift.
