General Summary & Scope

The Prestige Beauty Advisor (PBA) is responsible for maximizing sales in the prestige category (color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their individual needs and assisting guests in the selection and purchase of prestige merchandise, while following all company policies and procedures. All responsibilities are done while maintaining overall store standards, including cleanliness and replenishment. This position supports the Sales Manager (SM) through a focus on performance (service/retail sales and in-store events), people (guest service and associate culture), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards). This position requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the aptitude to learn and communicate product knowledge.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The PBA is a champion of Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, demonstrating them consistently by performing the following duties and responsibilities:

Performance
  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding the store’s goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty (including credit), retail shrink, and omni-channel sales, with a focus on the prestige category and iconic brands as set by Ulta Beauty.
  • Ensure each guest receives exceptional service by greeting and engaging every guest, personalizing service, recommending products, and informing guests of current promotions, events, and services.
  • Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
  • Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
  • Book appointments and support in-store events to deliver an outstanding guest experience while meeting prestige and brand sales goals.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits to guests.
  • Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
People
  • Support an inclusive environment for teammates, peers, and guests.
  • Collaborate with managers and staff to grow the business.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and sales performance.
Process
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Adhere to dress code.
  • Maintain replenished and well-presented work areas, including testers, and ensure hygiene standards.
  • Participate in merchandise resets, inventory procedures, and shipment processing using company systems.
  • Promote the guest loyalty program and company assets.
  • Follow loss prevention practices and execute operational tasks as directed.
Job Qualifications
Education
  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Cosmetology, esthetician, or demonstrator’s license as required by law.
Experience
  • 1 year of relevant work experience or equivalent education and experience preferred.
Skills
  • Passion for prestige products, guest service, and sales.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
Position Requirements
  • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Attend meetings and conferences, including overnight stays if needed.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent movement throughout the store.
  • Standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 10 lbs. regularly.
  • Ability to coordinate and manipulate objects continuously.
