General Summary & Scope

The Prestige Beauty Advisor (PBA) is responsible for maximizing sales in the prestige category (color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their needs and assisting in the selection and purchase of prestige merchandise, while following all company policies and procedures. Responsibilities include maintaining store standards, supporting the Sales Manager through performance, people, and process focus, and demonstrating a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The PBA champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, performing duties such as:

Performance

• Contributing to meeting or exceeding sales goals related to retail, service, guest loyalty, and omni-channel sales, especially in the prestige category.
• Providing exceptional guest service by greeting, engaging, personalizing, recommending products, and informing guests of promotions and events.
• Handling sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
• Performing makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
• Supporting appointment bookings and in-store events to deliver outstanding guest experiences and meet sales goals.
• Staying informed on industry trends, products, and ingredients to better serve guests.
• Maintaining prompt and regular attendance.

People

• Supporting an inclusive environment and collaborating with team members to grow the business.
• Participating in ongoing training to enhance product knowledge and sales performance.

Process

• Ensuring compliance with company policies, standards, and dress code.
• Driving sales through proper merchandising, hygiene, and operational standards.
• Participating in merchandise resets, inventory, and shipment processing.
• Promoting the guest loyalty program and protecting company assets.
• Executing other operational tasks as needed.

Job Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma preferred.
• Cosmetology, esthetician, or demonstrator’s license required where mandated by law.

Experience

• 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience preferred.

Skills

• Passion for prestige products, guest service, and sales.
• Strong relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Effective communication skills.

Additional Requirements

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Attendance at meetings and conferences, including overnight stays.
