Job summary

Covestro in Baytown, Texas is seeking a Pressure Safety Process Engineer to lead the analysis, design, and optimization of emergency relief systems and process safety across NAFTA operations.

You will apply chemical engineering fundamentals, perform PFD/P&ID reviews, and contribute to MOC, PHA/HAZOP, and TAR activities while aligning with ASME/API standards and industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or similar field with at least 4 years of experience or Master’s degree with at least 2 years of experience.
  • TWIC eligibility within a reasonable timeframe.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and evaluates emergency relief systems (pressure safety valves, rupture disks, venting) for new and existing plans in NAFTA.
  • Documents site and regional pressure safety policies, standards and procedures.
  • Participates in Management of Change (MOC) and provides solutions for pressure safety issues.
  • Supports day-to-day BU operations affected by emergency relief systems.
  • Assists in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Turnaround (TAR) activities.
  • Proposes improvements to pressure safety work processes.
  • Participates in HSE initiatives and represents HSE within the site.
  • Engages with industry organizations (AIChE/DIERS, ASME, API) and applies relevant codes.
