This position requires working 12-hour shifts from 5:30pm to 5:30am, following a rotating schedule of three days on and four days off, alternating with four days on and three days off. You will enjoy every other weekend off, providing a well-balanced schedule. We offer a premium shift differential of 10% for all nighttime hours, ensuring your dedication is both recognized and rewarded. Overtime pay is provided at a rate of one and one-half times the regular hourly rate for any hours worked over 40 in a workweek, in accordance with federal and state labor laws.

The Role and Responsibilities

As a Press Technician, you hold a pivotal position within our Production department, blending technical skill with problem-solving ability to uphold and enhance our can manufacturing processes. This role places you at the heart of our production operations, where your expertise in cupping and deep draw transfer press tools becomes the cornerstone of our manufacturing excellence. Your responsibilities stretch beyond mere machine operation; you are tasked with the setup, support, and continuous improvement of our manufacturing processes. By troubleshooting production challenges and refining tooling processes, you ensure the delivery of the highest quality products. Your role is critical in maintaining a high volume, tight tolerance environment, making you an essential figure in achieving our operational goals and maintaining product integrity.

Your Key Areas of Impact

Technical Mastery and Process Optimization: You have a comprehensive understanding of the manufacturing process, applying your knowledge to construct, maintain, and refine complex tools and gauges. Your ability to interpret specifications, blueprints, and sketches directly influences the quality and efficiency of our production line. By conducting sample runs and adjusting machinery for optimal performance, you set the standard for product excellence.

Quality Assurance and Troubleshooting Expertise: Your keen eye for detail and problem-solving skills are vital in identifying and rectifying production issues. Through meticulous observation and adjustment of tooling, you not only prevent potential faults but also ensure the consistency and reliability of our products. Your contributions are fundamental in minimizing downtime and enhancing our Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Safety and Continuous Improvement: Adhering to safety protocols and participating in continuous improvement initiatives, you exemplify our commitment to a safe and progressive work environment. Your involvement in 5S audits (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain), safety compliance, and the development and adjustment of work instructions reflects your dedication to operational excellence and workplace safety.

Collaboration and Leadership: As a team-oriented individual, you thrive in collaborative settings, ready to assist and guide your peers through complex technical challenges. Your ability to step into leadership roles, particularly in the absence of Press Operators, showcases your versatility and commitment to team success.

Requirements

You’ve received your high school diploma or equivalent and you’ve spent at least one (1) year in a technical position within a manufacturing setting. Your background in high-volume component production, tight tolerance manufacturing, and metal stamping and deep drawing technology equips you with the skills necessary for this role. Your expert experience of a minimum of three (3) years coupled with your adeptness in training others effectively, will allow for advancement to senior level within this role. You will work with a high-level of integrity, confidentiality, organization, and time management. You may have experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

The Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Travel

Your work is conducted in a dynamic manufacturing setting where exposure to noise and fumes is common, necessitating the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and adherence to safety protocols. You must be able to remain in a stationary position 5% of the time, whether standing or sitting, and be able to move about inside the facility. Your work requires manual dexterity, as you will regularly use hands to operate machinery, tools, or controls, and handle or manipulate objects. You must have clear visual acuity for both close-up work and monitoring processes from a distance, as well as for identifying and distinguishing colors. The ability to hear and discern various sounds and alarms is crucial for maintaining safety and operational efficiency. You need to be able to lift to 50 lbs.
