Press Operator or Trainee – $1,500 Hiring Bonus

The Grand Island Independent is hiring a full-time press operator to join our team to operate the printing press to publish the Grand Island Independent and numerous other Nebraska and Midwest regional newspapers and commercial print jobs due to expansion.

Responsibilities

• Load newsprint and make pasters
• Monitor reel stands
• Set ink densities, registration, and fill ink fountains
• Set folders and plate making
• Maintain a safe and clean press area
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Age 18 years or older
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Able to distinguish colors
• Mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work night shifts as needed
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
• Previous printing press or manufacturing experience preferred (training provided)
