Job summary

Hub Labels is seeking a Press Operator to prepare and independently run multiple jobs on the assigned press. The role requires coordination with pre-press, press assistant, and ink technician to ensure on-spec production. You will employ AVT, cameras, and a spectrophotometer for quality control.

Safety and accuracy are top priorities; expect to load materials, adjust equipment, perform cleaning, and adhere to standard operating procedures in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • Must be detail oriented and able to read and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to evaluate and resolve basic production problems on press equipment.
  • High school diploma or GED required; apprenticeship or Level 1 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate press and perform make ready and run jobs independently.
  • Collaborate with pre-press, press assistant and ink technician to determine materials and setup.
  • Follow safety rules, wear PPE, and maintain clean, safe work area.
  • Use AVT, spectrophotometer and other quality checks to ensure color accuracy and quality.
  • Load materials, adjust press settings, and perform routine cleaning and lubrication.

Job Summary:The Press Operator is expected to be able to perform make ready and independently run a variety of work on their assigned press. The operator is expected to work closely with pre-press, the press assistant, and the ink technician to perform these duties in an efficient manner. They are to use cameras, the AVT (or other web scanning device), as well as other designated quality checks to ensure all produced labels are up to Hub Labels quality standards.Supervisory Responsibilities:This position has no supervisory responsibilitiesDuties/ Responsibilities:Performs all duties with safety and quality as the top prioritiesAdherence to Hub Labels safety rules and regulations, this includes wearing steel toed shoes and other PPE protectionUses AVT, spectrophotometers as well as follow all SOPs to ensure all product ran is up to Hub Labels quality standardsPushes buttons, turns handles, moves controls and levers to start printing machine or manually controls equipment operationLoads, positions and adjusts unprinted materials on holding fixture or in loading and feeding mechanisms of pressWorks with pre-press, press assistant, and ink tech to determine ink, stock and equipment needed for productionCleans and lubricates press and components using oil, solvents, brushes, rags and hosesHave an understanding of color theory (delta readings, LAB values, density and dot gain)Bring any quality issues to the attention of the lead, supervisor or managerAny other tasks as assigned by supervisor or any other managerParticipation in all HOP programs and eventsHub Labels offers general benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and 401k with company matchRequired Skills/Abilities:Must be detail orientedAbility to read and follow oral and written instructionsAbility to evaluate and resolve basic production problemsEducation & Experience:Must have a high school diploma or GEDSuccessfully complete the Hub Labels Apprentice Press Training Program or successfully pass Level 1 certificationWork Environment & Physical Requirements:Specific sight requirements include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focusWhile performing this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk and hearThe employee is frequently required to walk and/or stand for extended periodsThe employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Will occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds with mechanical assistanceThe work environment is that of a manufacturing facility. Conditions change as the outdoor climate changes.
