Job summary

Visions, Inc. is seeking a Printing Press Operator to set up, run, and maintain printing presses for high-quality materials. Responsibilities include color matching, registering colors, loading paper, and performing daily maintenance while ensuring safety and adherence to procedures.

You will review job tickets, prepare equipment, and monitor quality across production runs, with one week of training under a qualified operator and ongoing supervision by the General Manager.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years press operator experience.
  • Solid knowledge of color theory, registration, and print quality standards.
  • Mechanically inclined with a positive attitude.
  • One week of direct training with a qualified press operator.
  • Continued monitoring by General Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and prepare printing press equipment for operation, including adjusting ink distribution, press speed, and tension control.
  • Obtain all materials and color match proofs and register colors.
  • Load paper stock, select inks, and set up printing plates per customer specs.
  • Run press and stop operations; call for press checks.
  • Pull sheets regularly and monitor print quality; complete job tickets and samples.
  • Perform regular maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and alignment checks.
  • Maintain housekeeping and safety; document shift handovers.
  • Provide direction to the pressroom feeder and communicate essential information to the next shift.

Job description

The Printing Press Operator is responsible for performing responsible manual and machine operator tasks in the set-up, maintenance, and operation of a printing press to produce high-quality printed materials. This position must set up printing machines, perform regular maintenance and calibration, and troubleshoot any issues that may arise during production runs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review Job Tickets in detail, asking any questions needed.
  • Set up and prepare printing press equipment for operation, including adjusting ink distribution, press speed, and tension control.
  • Obtain all materials.
  • Color match proofs and register colors.
  • Set up printing machines to match customer specifications, including selecting inks, adjusting printing plates, and loading paper stock.
  • Check to make everything is accurate.
  • Perform regular maintenance on printing machines, such as cleaning, lubricating, and ensuring proper alignment and calibration, both daily and weekly.
  • Run press and stops.
  • Call for press check.
  • Pull sheets on a regular basis, continually checking quality.
  • Complete Job Ticket, put color sample in jacket, mark the samples, and any other follow-up required.
  • Complete all press maintenance required at the proper time.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to keep the area neat and clean at all times.
  • Punch in and out each day, as well as punching in and out of jobs and materials needed for each job.
  • Follow safety procedures.
  • Give work direction to the Pressroom Feeder.
  • Communicate relevant information to the next shift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • 3-5 years Press Operator experience with similar press knowledge.
  • Solid knowledge of color theory, registration, and print quality standards.
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to get along with others with a positive attitude.
  • 1 week of direct training with a qualified press operator.
  • Continued monitoring by General Manager.
RECOMMENDED / PREFERRED:
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 guidelines, with a commitment to maintaining compliance with company standards.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of paper or other printed materials.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and operate machinery for long periods of time.
  • Good visual acuity and color perception to distinguish between different shades and color variations
