RRD is looking for an energetic, and highly motivated team member to join our team of Press Operators at our Elk Grove Village facility.
Operate web printing press to produce quality prints, maintain product quality, lead and direct press crew, maintain press, and perform other operational duties as directed by supervisors.
Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain Litho Press, In-line double web press, Harris M10, and a mini web 6-color web printing press or multi-color offset press to print single-color, two-color, and/or multi-color work, including large solids, screen tints, line and halftones with critical color values and registration requirements.
Review job specifications to determine press setup according to the imposition of the run (sheet-wise or work and turn).
Perform all make-ready tasks associated with the type of press operated, such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examining plates/cylinders for imperfections, checking for correct image positioning, prepping blankets, adjusting tension and registration, etc.
Make necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production to meet quality specifications.
Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press, making minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts as required.
Perform periodic maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer.
Act as a leader in providing and promoting a safe and injury-free work environment.
Responsible for all aspects of the operation of the press and press crew.
Ensure overall quality of the printed product, including color reproduction, product specifications, imaging quality, and postal specifications.
Determine when the product is suitable for saving.
Produce sample-quality products.
Provide accurate documentation of time, materials, impressions, waste, and run speeds.
Communicate effectively with other crews and departments, including scheduling, prepress, and maintenance.
Coordinate make-ready process by reviewing job information, establishing a make-ready plan, and assigning responsibilities to crew members.
Maintain a Preventive Maintenance Program for the press and use the "Request For Action" system to notify maintenance of issues.
Other duties as assigned.
Shifts: 7am - 7pm/ 3 days on 4 days off rotating every 8 weeks
