Job description

• Work from schedules, production orders, prints, and specifications
• Verify billet alloy and length and set heater controls to specifications
• Operate the press using multiple control panels in sequence
• Adjust press and peripheral equipment, product layout guides, tooling, and operating parameters to meet customer specifications
• Perform or assist with departmental operations to maintain workflow or respond to emergencies
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area in accordance with 5S standards
• Ensure safe operating conditions within the area of responsibility
• Assist with process examination, quality documentation, root-cause analysis, and solution recommendations
• Assist with press equipment validations, safety audits, and quality audits
• Provide manufacturing production with sufficient operation of the extrusion press
• Set up, adjust, and operate an aluminum extrusion press and related equipment to extrude specified aluminum products
• Troubleshoot press operation and support manufacturing problem resolution and process improvement
• Perform other related duties as assigned
• Adhere to company policies and procedures

Requirements

• Able to work in a non-air-conditioned/open-air shop environment that is hot in summer and cold in winter
• Able to work in a team environment, react to production conditions, and routinely change job functions
• Able to work overtime, including weekends; scheduled day off may fluctuate
• Able to meet normal production requirements while using proper body mechanics and working safely
• Ability to perform duties according to standard methods and procedures
• Strict adherence to HSE, quality, and productivity requirements
• Ability to set up, adjust, and operate an aluminum extrusion press
• Ability to operate a quality lab, drive a lift-truck, and operate press peripherals
• Ability to determine appropriate equipment settings and operational sequences
• Ability to troubleshoot press operation for manufacturing problem resolution and process improvement
• Ability to follow established policies and procedures
