Job summary

Screen Machine Industries LLC in Ohio is seeking a Burn Table Operator/Machine Operator to safely and accurately cut materials, load and run programs, and inspect finished parts. This role requires cross-training on additional machines such as saws and press brakes, along with proper PPE and adherence to safety policies.

You will align torches, read tape measures and calipers, and operate overhead cranes or forklifts to position heavy materials.

Qualifications

• Experience in metal cutting using a variety of methods.
• Experience in other metalworking machines and general fabrication.
• Experience in cutting different material thicknesses.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and part lists.

Responsibilities

• Accurately align torches, load drills and run programs to cut steel parts.

• Safely operate equipment to produce parts for the production process.
• Operate overhead crane or forklift to position heavy materials.
• Inspect finished parts for quality and inform supervisor of non-conformities.

Job description

Job Summary:

The Burn Table Operator/ Machine Operator is responsible for safely and accurately cutting materials. The Burn Table Operator will also handle materials, count parts, operate computer programs, and ensure safe and efficient operation of the work area. The position requires cross training on other machines like saws and press brakes.

Essential Responsibilities

• Accurately align torches, load drills and run specific programs to cut steel parts.
• Ability to accurately read tape measure, and/ or calipers.
• Good working knowledge of steel grades, thicknesses, fractions and their decimal equivalents
• Ability to accurately read instructions or press drawings, measures, holds, and positions materials
• Ability to read and understand parts lists to cut correct number of parts to the required specification
• Ability to safely operate equipment to produce parts for the production process
• Ability to safely and properly operate an overhead crane or forklift to position heavy materials
• Inspects finished parts for quality and accuracy and informs supervisor of any non-conformities
• Maintain and use all required personal protective equipment as outlined in Screen Machine’s Safety Manual
• Understands and follows all SMI’s safety policies and procedures
• Perform other tasks as assigned or needed
• Maintains a positive attitude and works well with others
• Assists with special projects as assigned by supervisor
• Marks specific parts for identification

• Ability to reach over and around objects to lift, move, or place objects or materials in designated locations
• Ability to understand written or verbal instructions, operate a tape measure, operate computer software, and understand the difference between various types of steel
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
• Ability to occasionally lift objects weighing over 50 pounds with assistance
• Ability to safely work on raised platforms, climb stairs or ladders, and climb off equipment or ladders
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, push, pull, and reach both above and below shoulder height
• Ability to handle, place, manipulate, operate, stack, and connect equipment and materials through fine and basic hand skills
• Ability to verbally communicate with coworkers and supervisors in a safe and productive manner
• Ability to work extended shifts to meet business demands as needed
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen

Working Conditions

Temperature and humidity fluctuations typical of standard outdoor conditions. The climate control within the facilities is somewhat restricted.
