Job summary

The Bristol Herald Courier is seeking a press operator to join our team. This is a vital role in the production of our newspaper and other print products.

The operator will operate and maintain press components, ensuring quality and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Essential duties include reading layouts, adjusting ink densities, monitoring quality in real time, inspecting newsprint, loading plates, and keeping the pressroom clean.

Qualifications

• Basic PC skills and comfort with standard office software.
• Experience in a production or mechanical environment.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in the printing industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret layouts.
• Set black and color inks to assigned density standards.
• Monitor quality of products in real time.
• Inspect rolls of newsprint for damage, load rolls and adjust controls.
• Place and install plates.
• Keep the press and pressroom clean.

Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:

• - Monitor quality of products in real time
• - Inspect rolls of newsprint for damage, load rolls and adjust controls in accordance with layout and production demands.
• - Place and install plates
• - Keep the press and Pressroom clean

Necessary Knowledge and Experience

• - Basic PC Skills
• - Experience in a Production or Mechanical environment
• - High School diploma or equivalent
• - Experience in the printing industry preferred
