Job summary

AB Corporate in Dixon, IL is hiring a Press Operator to operate web printing presses and assist with packaging printed products for shipment.

You will read job tickets, set up guards, monitor quality, and perform routine cleaning and maintenance while following ISO and safety procedures. The role requires physical stamina and the ability to lift up to 65 pounds and work eight or twelve hour shifts. Experience in manufacturing environment preferred; training provided.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Remove, flex, jog, stack, and package printed products from press and place on pallets.
• Adjust belt speed at cutter to prevent jams.
• Clean press and components when down for maintenance.
• Monitor quality and verify correct cutoff and alignment.
• Follow ISO and Safety procedures.

• Responsible for removing, flexing, jogging, stacking and/or packaging printed products or folded signatures from web printing press, sheeters, folders, and placing on pallets or skids for removal to other areas.
• Adjusts proper speed on delivery belts at cutter to prevent jam up.
• Remove and install plate and blanket guards as instructed by Pressman.
• Responsible for cleaning press and press components to maintain web printing press in working order when press is down.
• Monitors equipment for operational problems and discards scrap printed material.
• Verifies that cutoff is in the proper location.
• Inspects printed product for dry-ups and/or print quality.
• Read and understand job instructions on the job ticket and run sheet.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Maintains work area to be free of paper scraps, dust and unacceptable printed products.
• Assists Third Pressman in activities as assigned to develop working knowledge of the position for possible promotion.
• All other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor.
• Understand and follow all ISO and Safety procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

High School diploma or equivalent.

Physical:

• Must be able to lift 30 to 65 pounds.
• Must be able to walk or stand for entire work shift (8 or 12 hours).
• Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to push/pull up to 2200 pounds on hand lift truck.
• May be exposed to hot/humid and/or dusty work environment.
• May be exposed to controlled non-toxic chemical mists or vapors.

Mental:

• Must be able to read and understand written instructions.
• Position requires some mechanical aptitude.
• Position may require some mathematical calculations.
